The Start Of An Adventure

July 25th, We left for Washington DC. Things were going great. We made it to Salt Lake Airport just fine, got on the flight perfectly. Then we got to the Denver Airport. Everything seemed to go to crap then. About an hour before we are suppose to board the plane the lady at the desk gets on the intercom and the following annoucement begins to prodrude from her mouth, "Attention passengers of flight 725 to Washington DC, Due to a lightening storm in DC, the plane has not yet left the airport. The flight has been delayed for 4 hours." Just peachy. We are stuck in an airport for another 4 hours. Once we finally get boarded on the plane, I get seated to the Asian guy with no personality. I decide to just sleep through the whole flight and not have to worry about being bored for the duration of our flying.

Touch down in DC, and we cannot get off the plane because there is lighening outside and it is too dangerous for the groundcrews to get the luggage out of the plane....Even though we watched 2 planes unload passengers and luggage. Wonderful. It takes us 45 minutes to finally get out of the plane. Hurray, we are now walking to the baggage claime, And it doesn't come for another half hour. How cool is this. The Reagan National Airport is just as efficient as President Reagan when her was in office.

Baggage gets here and because our plane was late, all the car rentals were closed. Our reservations we made havet o be delayed till the next day. Great!! And to boot our Hotel has a shuttle service but they don't come to the Reagan Airport. We end up spending $100+ just to get a shuttle from the airport to the Microtel Inn and Suites, which I HIGHLY do NOT recommend for travelers. The lady at the front desk had the personality of a mushroom and was the most unhelpful person I have ever encountered. She wouldn't look up our reservations and CLAIMED that we only had one room reserved but I came into the conversation and the lady saw it my way and we have two rooms now. My parents don't know how to talk to Eastern people.

Nonetheless, we are still happy and glad to be here. It was a really stupid day but we made it and it is going to be really interesting. A great learning experience. Stay tuned for more East Coast Adventures.
